Pelourinho

Oh...the show was not good yesterday. Everyboy asked "are you nervous?". I was not, but then I got! I got nervous and the guitar man played the music higher than it should be aaaaaaaaaand the sound was not well balanced, people couldn't hear my voice in the first part of the music. Wow, a desaster. But the music is good. Maybe they can vote for it because it's a very good composition.

After that, I rang around a little and it was nice. There is a nice party that happens every Tuesday near the place where I sang, in some stairs. Can you imagine a party on stairs? We have it just here. And it's veeeeery good, we have local music, beautifull people but...wooooow, loooooooots of marijuanas all around. I got a headache. Then I went away.

This place where I sang and where there was this "stairs party" is called Pelourinho. It's an old part of my city (Salvador), where lots of nobles and their slaves lived. The word Pelourinho reffers to a peace of wood that was in the middle of some squares and where slaves were punished and tortured because of their "bad behavior", in front of everybody else, so as all slaves could see the torture and be quiet.

Thanks God today we don't have slaves (at least, not officially) and Pelourinho for us is now just a nice place to rang out. An old part of the city, with antique and big houses, where black culture is very strong. That's why I saw so many rastas yesterday.

Rastafari are people who follow Rastafarianism, a religion or life philosophy from Jamaica, but I don't know that much about it. I know they use some dreads in their hairs, they use marijuana as a way to meditate and contact God (which I don't like very much) and they talk about peace and brotherhood. Here in Salvador we have a lot of rastafari. It was beautifull to see so many of them there, in Pelourinho. Some of them were quite handsome men. And the night was not that bad...

Singing a boy

I'm excited today. We have a musical festival organized by universities here, in my city, and I'm partipating. It has 5 steps and I have passed throw the first one. Today is the second one.

I am the first singer to sing. In this festival we have only unknown musics. I'm singing a beautifull song from a friend of mine. In fact, I want to make a musical work with unknown compositions from this guy, another one and my own. I'll try to put some of these songs here, as an MP3 archive.

This song I'm going to sing tells about a brazilian boy who suffers but he goes on, singing. Here in Brazil people suffer a lot. They work a lot to keep their families. Children sometimes work, as well. And I'm proud I'm going to sing a little about my country. It's my way to help it.

Sing a Dream with me!

I have at least two reasons to "open" a blog in English. First and the most obvious one, is to have some kind of contact with my "internacional" friends. Sometimes they want to know about my life and here is a very good way of doing it. So...HELLO, MY DEAR FRIENDS!

The second and most important reason is that...I must tell you, I'm going to be a pop star. You should know that. And this blog is just part of my strategie to start my internacional carreer. Yes, because I'm a singer in Brazil and I'm not naive. As a dependent country as Brazil is, of course my internacional carreer needs to be built in English version. So here I am, starting it, so as you can be my fans from now on. And here you can follow my carreer since now and have the proud to say, later: "I knew everything about her since she was an anonimous singer in far Brazil".

Of course I'm going to talk a lot about Brazilian culture and specially its music. So...be ready to a new trip, my friends! Be ready to some errors in English also, as its not my mother language (and I have no producer yet).

Let's start the journey!
